Arrester Testing
The main power line constantly witnesses several voltage surges that can cause power failures and damage to sensitive electronic devices and electric equipment. Voltage surges include lightning, temporary overvoltage and switching surges. Lighting is an unpredictable, random natural phenomenon, while switching surge is the trapping and subsequent release of the energy. Temporary overvoltage results from ground faults on a single phase while the voltage tends to rise on the un-faulted phases and remain until it gets cleared.
Arresters are protective devices designed to prevent excessive voltage on equipment by discharging or bypassing surge energy in the form of current. These devices have many applications and are mounted on transmission poles, towers, buildings, circuit breakers, transformers, inside residential homes and substations. ASD arrester test systems are suitable means to verify that the arrester can withstand the continuous power-frequency voltage and the life time for which it is intended to operate. The systems share versatile features.

Automated Arrester Test System
Automated and customized to requirements. Arresters can be tested at production line or at R&D stages with impulse testing capability at 8/20 µs, 2ms and 10/350 µs up to 200KA; in addition to AC/DC current testing capability. The system involves capacitor banks, switching board, turn table control cabinet and others.
Arrester Aging Test System
Automated and customized to application & arrester's specification. It can be a stand alone or implemented within a total automated arrester test system. It measures the arrester's voltage and current at a given temperature for a period of time in order to simulate arrestor’s life time.
